| | .....close by is Bala town and lake famous for its rare species of prehistoric fish only found in one other lake in the world. Bala lake is a centre for both water sports and bird life.
For those interested in walking, the Berwyns are a five-minute journey away and Lake Vyrnwy is 1/2 an hour by car through spectacular scenery. The Arenigs (for more strenuous walks) are very close. For trout fishing, the beautiful Brenig lakes are nearby and the Treweryn river, where the World Canoeing events are held, is within walking distance. Good salmon, trout and grayling fishing are to be had on the Dee.
There is a swimming pool, approximately one mile away in Bala town and horse riding is available nearby. Steam train buffs may like to know that we are within reach of five different tracks. Bird watchers may be interested to know that red kite, goshawks and other birds of prey can be seen on the Berwyn Mountains - hence no more doves in the Dove Cote! | | |
